How to Roll A Joint

One of the most popular ways of consuming marijuana is smoking a joint. Whether you’re a recreational weed user or medical marijuana patient, you should know how to roll a joint in order to fully enjoy the flavour and smell of your buds. There is a wide range of techniques when it comes to rolling a joint, but the most important thing is to make sure it burns evenly and smoothly.

What You Need To Roll a Joint

Before you start rolling your joint, prepare some rolling supplies, such as rolling papers, filters, a weed grinder, and of course, your favourite marijuana strain. You can also prepare a pencil or a pen which will help you pack the joint.

Choose Rolling Papers

If you want to know how to roll a joint, you should start by choosing good rolling papers. These come in a wide range of sizes, shapes, designs, colours, and even flavours! It’s recommended to pick wheat straw or thin rice papers in king or standard size. Finer and thinner rolling papers are the best. Look for papers in convenience stores, tobacco shops, online shops or at the local dispensary. It’s best to get rolling papers that burn evenly and slowly with no bad smell or flavour. Always use as little paper as possible in order to fully enjoy your weed. Additionally, you can get a paper protector, which is a metal case that prevents your papers from tearing or bending while carrying them around.

Grind Your Weed

Before you start rolling your joint, you must prepare the weed. Remember to break up the buds into small pieces with a grinder and remove any leaves, seeds or stems. It’s important to grind your marijuana evenly, but not too much as it will become difficult to roll a joint. Although larger buds will make your joints burn more slowly, these may be the reason why your joints burn unevenly. For those of you who love kief, look for a type of grinder with a special sieve for collecting the precious material. Kief is known for its high concentration of the psychoactive compound of cannabis, THC, and you can sprinkle it over your weed before rolling a joint to make it more potent. Keep the rest of your unused weed in an airtight container in a dry and cool place.

If you’re wondering how much weed to put in your joint, it depends on the size of your rolling paper and whether you’re smoking alone or with some friends. Usually, half of a gram is much when it comes to a single joint, but if you want to share it with your friends, you may need to use up to 1 gram of marijuana.

Create Your Mix

Creating the perfect mix is half of the success in the art of rolling a joint. If you’re into smoking clear weed, you can skip this step, but if you want your joint to “breathe”, you can mix your weed with tobacco or marijuana leaves. Keep in mind to remove any “woody” parts of weed or lumps in order to get an even consistency of weed. Cannabis leaves may be potent if you get them from the top of a female flowering marijuana plant. One of the most popular additions to a joint is tobacco. However, if you add tobacco to your weed, the joint is called “spliff”. Another idea is to add hashish to your weed, but be careful with that, as it will make your joints extremely strong. You can also create a mix of weed and resin oil, which is also extremely potent. You should apply it to the rolling paper or blend it into the mix. Last but not least, try to sprinkle kief over the joint after rolling or over your weed before rolling a joint in order to get a special psychoactive boost of THC while smoking.

Create Joint Filter

Now, it’s time to make a tip, a.k.a. filter or crutch. It can be made with many things, such as business cards or thin cardboard. You can also purchase special rolling papers that include filter material within the whole kit. Start by folding the tip three times until it forms a pleat and then roll it to the desired thickness. The tip is not mandatory when rolling a joint, but it allows you to smoke the whole thing with no fear of it falling out into your mouth during the very last hit. Plus, you’ll be able to fully enjoy your joint, as a solid tip adds stability to it and prevents your fingertips from burning.

How To Roll a Joint

There are many ways to roll a joint, but this method is hands down one of the easiest and the most popular methods. Start by tearing out one of the rolling papers from your booklet and keep it glued side up. Now, fill the rolling paper with your mix and add the filter tip to it. Once you see your rolling paper has the proper amount of the weed mix, start shaping and forming the joint. Keep in mind to pack the mix evenly to your joint in order to make sure it will burn evenly. It’s best not to add too much mix into the joint, as it will become difficult to close it properly. As you roll your joint back and forth between your fingertips, you should get the perfect cylindrical joint. Now, lick the glued stip of the rolling paper and glue the joint. Don’t forget to add some more mix to make sure it will burn evenly -a pencil will do the job. Finally, twist the end of your joint to close it and prevent the mix from falling out.
